How It All Started
WaveRentals began with a simple question: Why is it so hard to find a good board when you're traveling?
It was during a surf trip to Sayulita in 2023 when the idea for RoamStoked was born. After spending hours searching for a decent board rental, only to end up with a waterlogged, beat-up shortboard that felt nothing like what was promised, we knew there had to be a better way.
As surfers who've chased waves across five continents, we've experienced firsthand the frustration of traveling to a perfect break, only to be held back by subpar rental equipment. We've also seen the other side – local surf shops with quality boards that struggle to connect with traveling surfers.
We believe that surfing is more than a sport – it's a way of life, a connection to nature, and a global community united by the love of the ocean. And we believe that everyone deserves access to the right board for their session, whether they're at their home break or halfway around the world.
That's why we created RoamStoked – to bridge the gap between traveling surfers and quality boards. Our platform connects surfers with local shops and individual board owners who offer well-maintained, high-quality surfboards for rent. No more settling for waterlogged foam boards or overpaying for mediocre rentals.
